With ongoing turmoil in their industry, UnitedHealth Group continues to drive dramatic value and improvement in operational efficiencies through process automation. The business and information technology teams at UnitedHealth Group collaborate to leverage a combination of robotic automation and business process management (BPM) automation. The resulting solutions, in systems like their core claims administration platforms, has eliminated manual processing during claims adjudication and interrogates 500,000 claims per day from a total volume of 2 billion service invocations across UHG’s two largest claims systems. With a reduction of more than 200 claims examiner staff, the cost savings alone is estimated at over $7 million annually.
