Government Survey: Agencies Struggling with Delivery of Citizen Benefit Services

Government agencies that deliver citizen services are ill-equipped to process claims efficiently. The agencies – including the ones that manage Medicare, unemployment insurance and social security – do not have adequate technology and resources in place. And in some cases, their employees aren’t even aware of how they’re complying with new laws to get a better handle on improper payments.

A recent independent survey polling managers at government agencies shows eligibility and entitlement benefit programs need to become more efficient in order to eliminate waste and decrease improper payments. What’s more, new laws in place will continue to put a strain on these agencies as they get serious about combating what has become a $150 billion problem.
