Pegasystems selected to drive one of India's largest statewide digital transformation projects

Government of Andhra Pradesh will deploy Pega software to create a single access point for all public e-services for citizens and businesses

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – March 14, 2018 – Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the software company empowering customer engagement at the world’s leading enterprises, today announced the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has selected Pega® Government Platform as the technology backbone for e-Pragati – a new centralized government portal that aims to integrate all departments, streamline services, and drive higher citizen satisfaction. This initiative – one of the world’s largest and most complex government digital transformation projects – will help connect the state’s citizens and businesses to 33 departments, 315 agencies, and 745 citizen services.

As part of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of ‘visible governance, invisible government,’ e-Pragati will enhance quality of life with faster, secure, and consistent services for people and businesses. The streamlined e-governance portal will save time and costs by bring integrated government services directly to citizens online, which reduces the need to visit multiple government offices and eliminates paper-based manual processes. State employees will use the platform to build applications, manage data and dashboards, and gain operational efficiencies.

The GoAP chose Pega Government Platform with its leading Digital Process Automation (DPA) technology to rapidly build these integrated digital services on a powerful unified platform. As part of the extensive selection process, GoAP evaluated four vendors over three months. In the final evaluation task, Pega was the only vendor able to effectively build a robust application within 24 hours. The state ultimately picked Pega’s no-code application development environment based on its ability to rapidly develop and deploy new applications; make real-time changes through its flexible architecture; reuse existing components to build new assets and eliminate mundane tasks with robotic automation so the state can focus on servicing citizens.

This project marks the first client win for Pega’s new sales support office in Mumbai, which opened in December 2017. Previously, Pega India’s 1,500 employees across Hyderabad and Bengaluru focused solely on engineering and product development activities over its 10-year history in the country. This new sales operation will enable Pega to work with India’s leading organizations as they accelerate their digital transformation initiatives to meet increasing customer expectations.

Pega Government Platform is a no-code, model-driven application development environment that empowers organizations to create and evolve critical government systems, simplify and automate applications, enable scale and reuse, reduce costs, and improve agility. Users can build new Pega functionality and applications on top of existing systems to leverage legacy IT infrastructure while driving digital transformation. Balasubramanyam, IPS, CEO, e-Pragati Authority. “The goal of ONE government and e-Pragati is to provide all citizen services online with a citizen-centric lifecycle approach, helping end their frustrations. The portal’s centralized nature will accelerate digitalization and control of departments, offer a single window into all government services, and ensure improved data security. Essentially, it will become our single source of truth for our entire government mechanism.”

“As governments across the world are investing in digital transformation for citizen services, India is right at the cusp of this revolution.
