Junior Cloud Operations Engineer - Service Reliability

This is the opportunity to join the growing Pegasystems Cloud Service Reliability Operations Team. The SRO Team is a part of larger Service Reliability division which manages cloud computing environments for one of the biggest and hottest brands that utilize Pegasystems software. This is an excellent time to learn new cutting-edge technology and work with a driven team in our rapidly expanding Krakow location.

Picture Yourself at Pega:

In this role you will work closely with Cloud Service Reliability Operations Engineers in managing incidents and requests from our hosted customers. You will communicate directly with our clients, investigating and finding root causes in the cloud-based environments. You will use your troubleshooting skills and ability to work in 24/7 environment to accommodate customer maintenance windows and detailed-oriented approach when performing Cloud Operations tasks.

What You’ll Do at Pega:

  • Perform regular Pega Cloud upgrades, patch installation in maintenance windows scheduled by customers
  • Provision new Pega Cloud environments for new and existing customers
  • Sit at the control panel of a state-of-the-art cloud offering and work with a team to proactively identify and address issues and behavioral anomalies before they become service impactful problems.
  • Take personal ownership of the systems you manage and operate and be responsible for problem discovery, analysis and resolution
  • Leverage and grow your diagnostic, technical and communication skills
  • Use and learn world class cloud infrastructure and management technologies
  • Be part of a dynamic and fast-growing team delivering strategically important solutions for world-class customers

Who You Are:

You are self-motivated, inquisitive and creative person, with a passion for continuous improvement and excellent people skills. You feel great with performing individual tasks as well as with working in a team. The quality development and operational practices are important for you and you are motivated to set them up as your goal. You also have:

  • Solid understanding of Linux system and network administration tasks
  • Analytical/problem solving mind – ability to quickly evaluate customer incident and/or request and act accordingly
  • Ability to work in 24/7 organized team, shift work – 10h per day, 4 days per week including Saturday and Sunday
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communications skills
  • Understanding of AWS (ALB, VPC, RDS, Aurora, Cloud Formation, Lambda), Tomcat, PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL) is a major advantage

What You’ve Accomplished:

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • BA in Computer Science or equivalent

It would be an asset for us if you also acquired:  

  • Experience delivering and operating a cloud-based product offering
  • Experience in a Cloud Support or Cloud Operations role and knowledge of Cloud Operations best practices
  • Experience in 24/7 Network Operations Center
  • Experience in developing or managing a Pega 7 application
  • Experience in a Hosted Services environment
